クラシック音楽家は、過去の音楽を今、そして次世代へと伝えるメッセンジャーであるとともに、
新たな時代の音楽と文化を創造する者たちでもある。
過去を知り、今をより深く理解することこそ、新たな文化の創造へとつながる。
それは、クラシック音楽家だけにとどまらず全ての現代人に共通する使命だといえよう。
私たちが新たな時代の扉を開こうとする今、
大正から昭和初期にかけて日本で生きたヨーロッパ人たちの「歴史Story」と彼らの文化である
クラシック音楽を通じて日本におけるグローバル化の原点を皆さまと共に考えていきたい。
Classical musicians are messengers.
As they perform and interpret the works of the past,
the message encoded in these very works are transmitted to us in the present.
In doing so, they contribute to the wealth of culture in the present from which, eventually,
the culture of the future will arise.
By acquainting ourselves with the past, we come to better understand the present by
recognising its deeper currents, the very currents that in time will extend into the future.
This is what the past calls on us all to do. So, as we step into a new era, let us acquaint
ourselves with the beginnings of globalisation in Japan through the stories of Westerners
who lived here and who brought with them a part of their heritage — classical music.
Concept
「聴く・学ぶ・知る」をテーマに
クローバルに活躍するクラシック音楽家と各分野の専門家たちとコラボレーションし、
ユニークで新しいアプローチでコンサートを企画・制作します。
Taking the triad ‘listening—learning—appreciating’ as our motif,
we at Alacrity design projects that allow professional artists in the musical arts to collaborate
in novel ways with those in theatrical and visual arts.
大正から昭和初期にかけて、当時の人々が日々のくらしの中で親しんだ作品、
欧米から来日した演奏家たちがレコード制作や演奏会で披露した作品、
日本で作曲された作品から「歴史Story」のテーマにあった作品をお届けする。
We will present you musical works that were familiar to people in prewar Japan,
works that were performed at concerts, recorded on vinyl, broadcast on the radio
and enjoyed by people across the various classes of society.
大正から昭和初期の「新たなグローバル文化の波」の中で、
日本のグローバル文化の発展に影響を与えた西洋文化人たちの
「ヒューマンストーリー」をクラシック音楽家がお話しする。
You will hear stories of men and women who brought Western culture into Japan,
who contributed to the development of a Japanese cosmopolitanism
in the new wave of globalization that swept the country during the prewar years.
パンフレットに、今回ご紹介する作品の詳細内容と、
作品が拡がった背景にある、日本に西洋文化が取り入れられてきた
歴史の変遷につき概要を解説する。

and the rich history behind the reception of Western culture in Japan.

We at Alacrity seek to provide the audience with an opportunity to discover music
anew through the art of storytelling and take them on a guided journey of emotions,
from ‘surprised’ to ‘touched’ to ‘delighted’ to ‘bewitched’.
